I was only at Microtel for a few hours but my husband is staying down there for business. It is a very nice place the rooms are very clean and comfortable. They offer a free breakfast in the mornings.
Very nice place to stay. Rooms feel very well-insulated against noise, and are cleaned/upkept very well. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included as well, which is always a nice bonus!
This hotel use to be so much better. It doesn't have the new hotel feel anymore. I ended up with a handicap room with the door jam that look as if it had to be force ably entered and as a result the door kept catching. I pray no emergency came up because I knew I might end up struggling with the door before getting to safety. The maid service was half decent and I felt as though I was responsible for keeping my room clean.
The service was very accommodating and is the reason I gave 4 instead of 3 stars. Everyone was super friendly and ready to help if needed. However, the rooms have a pretty unpleasant smell on the bottom floor (don't know about the other floors). It's a very heavy mold or mildew smell, though my mother-in-law swore up and down that it smelled of urine in her room (the mold smell was very strong in her room particularly). Luckily, there's a very convenient Walmart right across the street where we bought air fresheners for the rooms. Breakfast was fairly limited and when we came out around 8am to eat, they were out of waffle mix, syrup, and apple juice. They replaced the waffle mix and syrup in about 5-10 minutes after being notified, but the apple juice was never fixed, which was a bit of a bummer since that's my main drink of choice. Luckily, I had some apple juice in my room that I ran to get, but still disappointing nonetheless. So in the end, would've be 3 stars, had the staff not been as welcoming and accommodating. I also really love that they have complimentary hygiene products at the desk if you ended up forgetting anything. I had to get some shaving cream and a razor, and thought it was cool that they had products readily available.
I enjoy Microtel very much. The rooms are very clean. They offer a complimentary breakfast every morning.
