Tried to get in before their morning break. We ran a little late, but were able to call ahead and the receptionist was willing to stay a few minutes late to check us in. This is an Escapees Club location and as members we had reduced rates, however as tenters were were limited to three nights. Tent camping is permitted only in the "dry camping" area which is a small hill at the back of the park. It is not far from the bathhouse which was spotless. Unfortunately it rained most of the time we were camped there. However there were no problems with stakes pulling up, and because of careful tent placement we had no puddling issues. As of this time the site does have a resident alligator in the cypress swamp which was further behind where we camped. Other residents also mentioned several nonvenomous snakes and a family of armadillos. Mosquitoes are persistant but we had permethrin treated clothing and picaridin spray for our skin. Mosquito coils and citronella candles in the screen house curbed them even more. The entire hill seemed covered in biting ants so we applied diatomaceous earth and were left alone after that. On talking with the people running the site it seems they had several bad experiences with tenters. With the hazards I mentioned, tenting here is not for the novice or timid. Residents were friendly and sociable, showers were clean and hot. I did like the notes in the bathhouse outlining cleaning duties by the user. Bushnell is the nearest town and there are sufficient facilties. I did see someone get a pizza delivered from Hungry Howie's. I would camp here again, but I would set up closer to the road and probably closer to the old RV dump station.
Friendly staff. Well kept CG. Peaceful. Many activities.
This is an Escapees Campground. Nicely laid out and easily accessible from I-75. Nestled in the woods yet plenty of open spaces to allow lots of sunshine. Activities abound and a wonderful social calendar. Only drawback is that they don't offer Wi-Fi or cable. Cable would be helpful because if you're under the trees you may not receive satellite signals. Good for an overnight.
Quiet, friendly and very pleasant, neat grounds. A very well kept and cared for park.
Nice RV park. Some sites a little tight, but clean and has shade.
