Let me put this into perspective..... I've worked in a few vets offices, and I've been witness to many euthanized pets. Its supposed to be a calm quiet environment, and your pet is supposed to fall asleep, peacefully.
I had made appointments for several pets over a two day period. I was not impressed with any of the staff. Made appointments well in advance and was specific about what needed done during the appointments. They were unable to have any of the paperwork done and I was specifically told, "I hope you realize how much work you're causing us to do." After three additional trips, over multiple days, hundreds of dollars spent, and a lot of sour attitudes from the staff, I will not be returning. Ever. Besides the poor attitudes, the grooming was horrible. Not a single dog was groomed evenly. Sometimes being local isn't a big enough perk to keep a client.
I would highly recommend Dr.M for your pet's needs, he went the extra mile to help our 14 year old Lab Amie. His complete staff were great, and caring and understanding. Dakota his vet tech was fantastic. Thank you again Tom and Karen.
He killed my kid! It has taken me a week to gain enough composure to be able to write this... As many pet owners do, I referred to my dog Titan as my kid. I got him when I was 18 years old, he was 2 weeks old... I am now 30, and after being my road buddy riding passenger from Florida to Maine and everywhere in between, being there for every tear rolling down my cheek, so many memories, it came time to stop his suffering. It hurt me to watch him walk with him being full of arthritis and cancer. I knew it was going to be hard but I couldn't be selfish and keep him alive just because it was too hard... Being one of 2 or 3 vets in the area and the oldest practice around, I picked Dr.Mounger. I assumed he would be compassionate seeing as how he had been a vet for 40 years.
I thought the vet was a little brash and didn't seemed to concerned with my dog that had just eaten a chicken bone, he didn't even feel his stomach to see if my dog had any discomfort, and did no xray, it just seemed like he would rather me pay for multiple visits other than diagnosing my dog at that time. I won't be going back to this vet. I just didn't feel like he had my dogs best interest at heart.
This did not happen. When I came back in it was just in time to see him inject Titan with the poison, his body went into convulsions for what seemed like an hour (more like a minute, but still too long) and his head went limp over the table and before I could comfort him and say goodbye, he was gone.....
They were very good with my Hampton and didn't charge an arm and leg
WRONG. My mother and father came with me (thank god, because if it weren't for them i would've prob ended up in jail), and they initially brought Titan inside to get him checked in. When I came inside I was thinking I was coming into a calm room in the back (like most vets offices do, you know being compassionate and all).. Instead it was the exam room, right on the other side of the door from the waiting room. Titan was on a stainless steel table uncomfortable and terrified. I asked the vet assistant if this was where he was going to be put to sleep and she snapped back a "yes", so I demanded a blanket because it wasn't ok for me to see him on a table as if he was already dead. She acted like i was inconveniencing her, but she reluctantly asked another vet tech for a blanket... I had to step out for a moment, I was about to loose it... I was thinking if I could just go away long enough for them to get him comfortable... 3mins had passed, when I came back in he was already injecting him.
No compassion, heartless.... I could come up with more suitable words but they wouldn't be appropriate for this post. I want to let everyone know what happened to my Titan and myself and my family before it happens to someone else.
